What happens to what you send

Plain answers.
No lawyer words.

This page is written the way the rest of the site is written. If something here is not clear, that is our fault, and you can write to us and say so.

The short version

Nothing leaves your device
unless you press send.

The cost per mile worksheet and the cockpit do their arithmetic in your browser, on your machine. Your figures are not uploaded while you type, they are not saved anywhere by us, and if you close the tab they are gone. That is also the reason those tools tell you to copy anything you want to keep before you leave.

The forms are different, because a form is you choosing to tell us something. Each one shows you exactly which boxes it has, and none of them has a box we do not need. There is no account to make and no password to pick, anywhere on this site.

When you do press send

Two places, on purpose.

What you send is written to our own record and emailed to Bill and Michael so that a person actually sees it. The record is ours and sits on our own server. The email travels the way any work email travels, through the mailbox they already use. There is no advertising network and no analytics anywhere in that path.

The record

An append only log on our own server. It is built so a row cannot be altered later without the change being obvious. That is what makes it worth anything as a record.

Your details, kept apart

Your email, name or phone number never go into that tamper evident log. They are held separately, and the log carries only an opaque reference to them. This is the whole reason we can actually delete you later.

The email

One message to Bill and Michael, so a human reads what you wrote. It goes through the ordinary mailbox they already use for work.

How long we keep it

Not forever, except the one thing that has to be.

Two years Contact details you gave us on any of the interest, list, inquiry or preregistration forms.
90 days Road hazard reports. A two year old report about ice on a grade helps nobody and is a real risk to the person who sent it.
Kept A request to stop contacting you. Deleting that would switch the contact back on, which is the opposite of what you asked for. It is the one record we keep on purpose, and it holds the least we can manage.

Telling us to stop

One form. No account,
no reason needed.

You do not have to explain yourself and you do not have to log in to anything. Fill in the unsubscribe form with the address you want stopped and we stop. If you want your details deleted rather than just silenced, say so in the same form and we will do that instead.

You can also just write to Bill or Michael, at bill.ihrie@ufocpm.com or Michael.Polzin@SolutionWright.com. Either of them can action it. The same two addresses are printed in the back of the book.

What we do not do

The list is short, and it is the point.

We do not sell your details, rent them, or hand them to carriers, brokers or insurers. Drivers are the people this is for, not the product being sold.

There are no analytics on this site, no advertising trackers, and no third party scripts of any kind. Nothing follows you from here to anywhere else.

We do not ask for the contact details of anyone except you. If you nominate another driver, we deliberately do not take their phone number or email, because they have not agreed to anything. We contact you, and you make the introduction.

The road hazard form can be sent without any contact details at all. That one is genuinely anonymous, and it is the only one we describe that way.

Straight with you about what is built

Working today, on sale today, and what is not.

The floor of Bill is be the signal, not the noise. So here is the unglamorous version, in plain order.

Works The cockpit, the worksheet, the ways to reach him, and the checking a number exercises. Live and public. No account, no cost, nothing to install.
Works The radio station. Twelve original tracks on the air around the clock at the radio page. The other four records are written and not recorded.
On sale The book, the App Preregistration Edition and the Glovebox Companion, on Amazon. The prices on the books page are current offers. Preregistration is not refundable, and the app it preregisters you for is not built.
Not built The app. It has not shipped. There is no release date and none is promised. Whether it gets built depends on how many preregistration editions sell.
In design The load check, the parking heads up, memberships, the Flight Deck, the video side. Designed, argued over, and not built. No code exists for these.
Unfinished This website. Bill has not signed off on this copy yet. He is reading it now, and anything he wants changed gets changed.
